Hi Paul,
At this very moment I’m working in a Nuclear Fusion Project so I would like to know your opinion about the potential capability of using MCopen to simulate fusion neutronics instead of MCNP or TRIPOLI.
Best regards,
JLM

Hi Jose,
Thanks for your interest in OpenMC. There are a number of limitations of OpenMC that may make it unsuitable for fusion neutronics at present. Namely, there are no methods in the code for performing variance reduction in fixed source simulations, there is no photon transport, and there is no support for CAD-generated geometries. Photon transport capabilities are under development, but I am not aware of any active work on the other two topics (variance reduction and CAD support). We would welcome any contributions in this area.
If you have further questions or if we can help in any other way, please let us know.
Best regards,
Paul
