Problem to open output files of older OpenMC version

Dear all,

I’m writing for a not negligible issue in OpenMC. I just discovered that output files generated by older versions of OpenMC cannot be opened and analyzed in new versions by using openmc.StatePoint. Indeed, an error message referred to the not compatibility of the versions is returned.
I think that this could be a not neglible issue. For instance, if I run simulations that are computational expensive, I cannot have access to data in the future with new OpenMC versions. It seems that the only solution is to reinstall the older version.

Is there a way to overcome this problem, please?

@byba90 Thanks for pointing out this issue. I agree this is not an ideal situation and hopefully we can find a relatively easy solution. What version of OpenMC are you currently using and what version was used when the statepoint was created? I can take a look at what changed in the statepoint format.
