Double checking type of uncertainty associated to tally results

Hi,

Something very quick. Just double checking if the standard deviation associated to homogenized and collapsed macroscopic cross sections computed by openmc, and written by the python script to CSV files, corresponds to an absolute value. Thus, to get it in relative terms, I would just need to divide it by the mean value. Is this correct ?

Thanks !

Hi Augusto – yes, the standard deviation is an absolute value, not a relative value. One other thing to keep in mind is that those uncertainties do not account for correlation between tally scores, so you should take them with a grain of salt.

Best regards,
Paul
