depletion chain using ENDF/B-VIII.0

hi

i am using LANL based ENDF/B-VIII.0 library from https://openmc.org/lanl-data-libraries/ and i was wondering if it is possible to create a depletion chain from this library instead of VII.1 ?

i am using ENDF/B-VIII.0 because i have observed significant difference between my VII.1 runs and VIII.0 runs, also VIII results are in agreement with MCNP results (MCNP results used VI.1B data).

or maybe if i can have an input about this difference in solutions (diff in value of keff for example) if currently it is not possible to have depletion chain of VIII.

You can use the Chain.from_endf method to create a depletion chain using a collection of 1) endf neutron reaction files 2) endf neutron induced fission yield files, and 3) nuclide decay files. I hope this helps!

I put together an ENDF/B-VIII.0 depletion chain (untested). If you do use it, let us know if you run into any issues with it:

Before running depletion calculations, please read the caveats section of our user’s guide!
