Hello, so I am currently undertaking a full core BWR, and after looking at the available depletion libraries, and what I currently understand of reactor physics, I was hoping for some guidance on the matter, the goal of this code is to optimize a five layer axial fuel profile for a two year BWR cycle, thus I am taking full advantage of Pu buildup from fast neutrons hitting the U238, and liberal usage of burnable poisons. With this and the thermal hydraulic impacts on the moderation, I am rather dubious of only using the thermal depletion xml…
Are you planning on using ONIX ?, it’s a very good tool for depletion calculations that can be used alongside OpenMC.
I wasn’t entirely planning on it as I haven’t necessarily done any research into that code, currently I’m utilizing OpenMC’s depletion interface, what level of fidelity does ONIX give? I am using a HPC to run calculations, and I will admit, that anything with any level of fidelity is computationally expensive.
Currently running the CECM with cram48 on 5day time steps, 12 cores, and that is taking around 32h?
