Tally scoring with expansion filters

Let’s say I specify a Zernike filter with radius = R1 and create a tally with no other filters. Let’s say my geometry is a cylinder with radius = R2 > R1. From what I can glean looking in the source, every event will contribute to my tally regardless of whether the event occurs in the region of space < R1. Is this understanding correct?

Hi Alex,

Yes, your description sounds correct. At present, it would be wise to use it in conjunction with a cell filter that matches the geometric extent. We may want to consider whether it makes sense to exclude events outside of the radius by default; if you have thoughts about this, I’m all ears.

Best,
Paul
