How to change the time unit in depletion module

Hello everyone, especially Mr. Romano,

My name ‘Helen Raflis’. I am a research student from Physics department of ITB, Indonesia. I have installed the openmc-dev that having depletion module but I have a problem to change time unit of depletion module from seconds to days, like in MCNP code. Anybody can help me?

I have tried to solve with a simple trick, multiply the power value with 246060 to minimize the time step of depletion calculation. Is that accepted or not?

Hi Helen,

You can convert the time in days to the time in seconds, example 5 days becomes 5 * 24 * 60 * 60 = 432000 seconds. This is preferable to scaling the power as you proposed, as this allows both the reaction rates to be properly scaled and spontaneous decay to be captured correctly.
