# Problem with openmc.openmoc\_compatible in hexagonal lattice conversion

**Greeting,**

I want to compare the result calculated from openmc with openmoc which using the method of characteristic to calculate. but I am having a problem using _openmc.openmoc\_compatible_ function to convert my geometry programmed in openmc which includes many hexagonal lattices to the openmoc. But It said

**Unable to set “openmc\_lattice” to “HexLattice” which is not of type “RectLattice”.**

Does anyone have any suggestions on my problem? and  
Is there any way to convert or create the hexagonal lattice in openmoc ?

Hi @Sivakorn.SSW and sorry for delayed response here. As far as I’m aware, OpenMOC does not support hexagonal lattices, so the only way I could see this happening is if you manually created cells with the six sides of a hexagon to mimic a lattice.

Hello. Is openmoc ready now? Or are there any other methods available?
