Perhaps this [cylindrical mesh](https://docs.openmc.org/en/stable/pythonapi/generated/openmc.CylindricalMesh.html?highlight=%20mesh) is what you want it was added recently to the [source code](https://github.com/openmc-dev/openmc/blob/6a75b3c552e44a2d614467503621a6f59875ca28/openmc/mesh.py#L729-L759) by Olaf and is in version 0.13.0 of OpenMC ---
